AMION is regularly called upon to support the development and delivery of major planning applications, many of which are of regional and national importance.  AMION typically supports the formulation of major planning applications through two of its key products – (1) a stand-alone socio-economic impact assessment and (2) as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.

AMION’s role in the EIA process is focused on assessing socio-economic effects, with direct inputs to the production of the Environmental Statement (ES). AMION has provided Scoping Reports and ES Socio-Economic Effects chapters for a range of high profile planning applications, such as the expansion of Pinewood Studios; major residential and mixed use development in Haverforwest, Pembrokeshire; and in relation to the proposed Trafford Waters scheme.  Each proposed scheme gained planning approval with AMION’s support and appearance at public enquiry in the case of Pinewood Studios.

Tim Johnston and Graham Russell have given evidence and successfully defended AMION’s input to a range of major planning applications at public enquiry.  Graham has also appeared at Examinations in Public for Local Plans in relation to Objectively Assessed Housing Need.
