Dr John Nellthorp

Dr John Nellthorp is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, specialising in transport economics, economic appraisal and cost-benefit analysis. His research focuses on the measurement and valuation of transport impacts, including user benefits, reliability, externalities, land value and wider economic impacts, drawing on techniques including stated preference, hedonic pricing and spatial economic modelling.
John has advised and undertaken consultancy for organisations including the Department for Transport, World Bank, European Commission, UNECE and transport authorities in the UK and internationally. He has also served as an academic adviser to the Welsh and Scottish Governments and contributed to the development and review of transport business case and appraisal methodologies. He teaches economic and transport investment appraisal at postgraduate and professional levels.
