Sectoral Services

  • Business support, trade, and investment
    We have appraised and evaluated a significant number of business support programmes including LEGI, Business Link, Grants for Research and Development, International trade, and inward investment.
  • Defence
    AMION is able to assist the defence sector in undertaking economic appraisals, evaluations, and impact assessments. Several of AMION’s consultants and associates have held commercial and economic roles within the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and are currently security cleared.  This gives AMION the capability to provide defence investment decision-making support to the Government and the defence industry. It has experience of delivering Green Book compliant Investment Appraisal (IA) support to a range of MOD acquisition, procurement and commercial activities, including Combined Operational Effectiveness and Investment Appraisal (COEIA) assessments.  Furthermore, it has provided Economic Impact Assessment (EIA) support to the defence industry as part of the creation, expansion and relocation of advanced defence manufacturing facilities.   • Development and construction
    AMION has assessed and appraised the economic, social, and environmental impacts of a substantial number of development schemes. In addition, we have developed and implemented schemes to maximise the wider economic and social benefits of construction activity.
  • Employment, education and skills
    AMION has appraised and evaluated a number of major higher and further education projects, as well as training and skills projects and programmes. We have also assisted the development of new approaches and initiatives at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Green Infrastructure and the Natural Economy
    We have developed an appraisal and monitoring and evaluation framework, and undertaken evaluations and appraisals of Green Infrastructure and Natural Economy projects and programmes. AMION has also assessed the economic value of Green Infrastructure.
  • Health
    AMION has worked for the World Health Organisation and various National Health Service (NHS) organisations. This work includes impact assessment and benefits realisation planning.
  • Heritage and design
    AMION has assessed the economic value of heritage and design.
  • Housing
    We have appraised and evaluated a substantial number of housing developments, including new build and estate regeneration schemes. We have also provided Central Government and Housing Market Renewal Pathfinders with economic research and advice
  • Infrastructure and the environment
    AMION has appraised a number of projects, including major public realm schemes.
  • Science, technology, and new media
    We have extensive experience of assessing, appraising, and evaluating science, technology, and new media projects. These include major science parks, rural broadband, biotechnology projects, innovation centres, and media schemes such as MediaCity:UK.
  • Social care
    We have undertaken several reviews of social care provision and provided options appraisals and business planning support for new approaches to delivery.

Sectoral Services

  • Social enterprise
    AMION has extensive experience of working with social enterprises as well as the wider third sector. This has ranged from assistance to small-scale community organisations with the development of additional projects through to major strategic reviews and evaluations.
  • Tourism
    We have appraised, evaluated, and assessed the impact of a wide range of tourism projects and programmes, including the Eden Project, the Headingley Ashes Test 2009, and the North West Tourist Board Programme.
  • Transport
    AMION has undertaken appraisals and economic impact assessments of road, rail, light rail, and port facility infrastructure projects. The focus of these has been on their wider economic impacts and benefits.
