AMION appointed to undertake an Economic Impact Study of the proposed realignment of the A391 in Cornwall
AMION Consulting has been appointed by Cornwall Development Company (CDC) to undertake an Economic Impact Study of the proposed realignment of the A391. The realignment project will enable the delivery of the wider St Austell and Clay Area Eco-town. By altering the course of the A391, the realignment will specifically ensure that the development of the Technology Park element of the Eco-town can be delivered.
The A391 provides a link between St Austell and the A30, which is the main connection between Cornwall and the rest of the region and meets the M5 near Exeter, providing road connections with London. As part of the wider Eco-town development, the realignment will help to reduce congestion, bring settlements closer together, link people to jobs, deliver products to market and facilitate supply chains.
The main purpose of the economic impact study is to assess the anticipated longer-term wider economic effects of the realignment project on:
- income (Gross Value Added or GVA);
- employment; and
- regeneration or distributional impacts.
