AMION appointed to assess the Economic Benefits of Housing Development

AMION has been appointed to undertake an assessment of the Economic Benefits of Housing Development in Cheshire West and Chester.  Cheshire West and Chester District Council is focusing its growth and regeneration activities in four areas - Ellesmere Port, Chester, Weaver Valley and the Rural areas.  The Council has a focus on growth and aims to deliver an additional 6,257 homes by 2015, of which a number will be affordable.  In addition, there is an ambition to bring back derelict and neglected sites in suitable locations into use.  The Growth Point focus has an ambitious expenditure profile and suitable sites are being identified and the feasibility explored.  The growth focus offers an opportunity for housing-led regeneration to improve deprived communities and support and sustain community facilities, businesses and education/training opportunities.

AMION's work will provide evidence and estimates of the scale of the wider economic and social benefits of residential development.  An economic benefit analysis will support this through considering the impacts in each regeneration area and at specific locations within them.
